Introduction
Over the course of six weeks, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at Dheerya Foundation, a renowned NGO dedicated to empowering underprivileged communities. This experience was not only enriching but also eye-opening, as I was able to contribute to various projects and witness the positive impact they had on the lives of individuals. In this blog, I will share my journey as a volunteer at Dheerya Foundation and highlight some of the remarkable tasks I accomplished during my time there.
Orientation and Getting Started
Upon joining Dheerya Foundation, I underwent a comprehensive orientation program that acquainted me with the organization’s vision, mission, and core values. This orientation played a crucial role in helping me understand the importance of our work and how it aligned with the broader goal of creating a more inclusive society.
Teaching Spoken English Classes and Mathematics classes
One of the significant responsibilities I undertook was teaching spoken English and Mathematics classes to students from different grades. It was truly inspiring to witness their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. From Grade IV to Grade VII, I had the privilege of equipping these young minds with essential communication skills that would undoubtedly shape their future.
Nalanda Library Project
Another noteworthy project I contributed to was the Nalanda Library Project. This initiative aimed to establish libraries in government schools, providing students with access to a wide range of educational resources. I was actively involved in template making, designing posters, and even installing libraries at various schools. Witnessing the joy on the faces of students as they explored books was an incredibly rewarding experience.
Social Media Outreach and Engagement
Recognizing the importance of social media in spreading awareness, I actively worked on increasing Dheerya Foundation’s online presence. I created Canva templates for posts, developed captivating content, and analyzed feedback from followers to enhance our engagement strategies. Additionally, I researched trending subjects on Twitter to align our messaging with relevant concerns that mattered to our cause.
Generation of Instagram posters and Donation Receipts
During my time at Dheerya Foundation, I was entrusted with the responsibility of creating an Instagram post to celebrate Bakrid, fostering inclusivity and spreading the message of unity. Furthermore, I generated donation receipts for generous donors who contributed more than 1k to support our initiatives. It was gratifying to witness the generosity of individuals and their willingness to make a difference.
Blogs & Empowering Government School Students
Another aspect of my internship involved writing educational blog posts on my experiences and such in the government school.
Also, we as a team, addressed the challenges they faced, highlighted the importance of English knowledge, and explored the role of digital technology in education. Through these articles, I aimed to inspire and provide valuable insights to students who may not have access to such resources.
Conclusion
My six-week internship at Dheerya Foundation was an unforgettable experience filled with learning, growth, and a profound sense of fulfillment. From teaching spoken English to supporting the Nalanda Library Project and engaging in social media outreach, every task contributed to the greater goal of empowering underprivileged communities. I am grateful for the opportunity to have made a positive impact and look forward to continuing my journey as a changemaker in the future.
If you are passionate about making a difference and supporting educational initiatives, I highly encourage you to connect with Dheerya Foundation. Together, we can create a brighter future for all.
